TikTok is one of the most popular short-form video platforms with millions of new videos constantly being uploaded. But few things can be more frustrating than creating videos that nobody watches.

Thankfully, TikTok has a video views counter that lets you know the number of people that have seen your videos, including the number of viewers who actually watched them till the end.

But, can you see who views your TikToks? In this article, we'll cover video views on TikTok and find out what information you can actually see about your viewers.

Can You Really See Who Viewed Your TikTok Videos?

TikTok doesn't yet let you know who exactly views your videos. However, there are workarounds that let you know or guess who exactly viewed your TikTok videos.

For instance, the number of likes, shares, comments, and favorites can give you a rough idea of how many people may have viewed your TikTok videos. Note that this is only an estimate and does not represent the actual number of viewers.

Thankfully, you can easily and quickly do this using the TikTok mobile app, TikTok desktop app, or TikTok web. Here's how to indirectly see who may have viewed your TikTok videos.

On the TikTok mobile app:

  1. Tap on Profile, then select the particular video in question.
  2. Towards the bottom left of your screen, you should find the accounts that liked your videos displaying on the screen.

You can do the following once you find the list of accounts that liked your videos:

  1. Tap on any of the profiles to learn more about them or to follow them.
  2. You can also tap on the Comments box to read viewer comments or Likes to view your likes.
  3. If you want to learn even more, simply tap More insights on the bottom right.

On TikTok's website, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your account and click on Inbox to view Notifications.
  2. You can then click on any of Likes, Comments, and Mentions and tags to view their respective details.
  3. Remember to adjust the Engagement period as needed from 7 days to 60 days or create custom dates.

How the TikTok Video Views Feature Works

TikTok video capture

Going viral on TikTok involves several factors such as the number of video views you get in a short period. One view is counted when a user opens your video on the app, even if they don't stay until the end. Each view in a looped video also counts as a single view.

On TikTok, you can see how many users have watched your videos. Previously, in addition to seeing your video views count, you could also see a user's username. But this is no longer the case.

Now, you may only view their demographics using TikTok’s analytics tool. But you can also see who has viewed your TikTok profile using the profile views feature.

So what if you want more information about these video views? TikTok Analytics allows you to get an overview of your videos' engagement and other key insights.

What TikTok Analytics Can Tell You About Your TikTok Videos

TikTok Analytics covers four broad categories: Overview, Content, Followers, and LIVE. Here's a summary of what you can expect to find under each category via the TikTok mobile app.

  1. Overview: Video views, Profile views, Likes, Comments, Unique viewers, and Shares.
  2. Content: Video views, Likes, Comments, Shares, and Favorites including Total Play Time, Average Watch Time, Watched full video, and New followers, among others.
  3. Followers: Total followers, Net followers, Follower insights, and Most active times.
  4. LIVE: LIVE Analytics, Viewer ranking, Highest Gift count, Top gifters, Highest watch time, Team, Hosts you may want to follow, LIVE Academy, Agency Center, Replays and Rules and guidance.

How to Use TikTok Analytics For Your TikTok Videos

To use TikTok Analytics, you’ll need to have at least one public video and either a Creator or a Business Account.

With that out of the way, here's how to start using TikTok Analytics:

  1. Open TikTok and tap on Profile.
  2. Tap on the hamburger menu button in the top-right corner.
  3. For this illustration, we’re using the Creator tools option. So, tap on Creator tools.

Once you're in the Creator tools menu, follow the steps below:

  1. Tap on Create video and create a public video if you haven't created one already.
  2. Select Analytics.
  3. Tap on the Turn on button.
  4. Select Video views under the Engagement tab. Alternatively, tap on Content and choose the video in question. You should now be able to see the Total Play Time, Average Watch Time, Watched full video, New followers, Retention rate, and Traffic source.
  5. For viewers-specific insight, tap on the Viewers tab. Here's where you can see specific data for Total viewers, Gender, Age, and Top locations.

Seven days after you post your first video and activate TikTok Analytics, TikTok will start updating your analytics automatically. Without Analytics, you can only see the number of people viewing your videos without their demographics.

To see only a video’s views count, simply open the TikTok app and tap on your profile at the bottom-right of your screen.

You should now be able to see the number of people that have viewed your videos. Another easy way to do this is to view your videos or profile from another TikTok account.

For an even better experience, you can visit www.tiktok.com/analytics on your computer.

Keep Tabs on Your TikTik Video Performance

Knowing how to see who viewed your TikTok videos can help you to connect with your viewers and followers on a more personal level and improve engagement.

So, does TikTok show who viewed your video? Unfortunately, TikTok no longer shows viewers' usernames, as we have seen throughout this article. However, the rich insights available in TikTok Analytics can help you know more about your viewers' demographics.

Not only can you see who watches your TikToks (and where they're from), but TikTok Analytics can also help you to improve your overall content game.
