On my desktop, newly converted to Windows 8, many useful documents get downloaded in PDF format. I can't find a way to print them. From the responses I get from Win8 Help, I deduce that it cannot yet use "PDF Reader".

I have tried downloading Reader in compatibility mode, but the installation always fails, and I have been going round and round in circles. "There is another installation going on, and that must be completed first". But I am not at the moment installing anything else!

The fault doesn't lie in my laser printer or its connections because I can print emails on my desktop.

Unfortunately my printer is not wireless enabled so I cannot print directly from my iPad2 or my iPad mini

v grateful for advice!

It may be that you are confusing "PDF Printing" in the sense of creating a PDF and Printing a PDF with a reader application. There should be no problem at all installing and using a reader on Windows 8, and using it to print a PDF as with any other application. I've installed both Adobe Reader and Acrobat on Windows 8 PCs and they run just fine. The web site for Adobe Reader XI system requirements list "Windows 8 or 8.1 (32 bit and 64 bit)" so it should definitely run OK. Foxit Reader 6 should also be compatible with Windows 8 although I haven't actually tried this combination. As for creating a PDF, see the first link in Hovsep's comment.
