iMac makes a noise. I tried switching off, unplugging and holding the power key down for 5 seconds and then plugging back in but the iMac then wouldn't switch on again at all. I had to unplugg and plug it back in. I don't know what to do. Would you please help? Thanks

As Jan says, it depends on the kind of noise. If the noise is from the fans, you may be able to reduce it by
gently
vacuum cleaning the computer from the outside. Be careful though! Do it with the iMac switched off and leave a bit of a gap between the nozzle & the Mac so that the suction isn't too strong.

What kind of noise? What does it sound like? Are the fans running at full speed or are they just loud? Is it a beeping or clicking noise which might be a failing hard drive? Also do you have a CD/DVD in the Superdrive which might be the source of the noise?
