I've use Parallels and it's definitely the smoothest way to run both OS side by side.

Yes you can. There are 2 options to do it. You'll definitely need an Original Windows 7 CD for it.1. Virtualisation Software- Virtual Box, VM Ware etc. would allow you to run any OS from within your current OS. I have Windows 7 and use Virtual Box to run Kubuntu and Backtrack GNU/Linux as virtual OS from within 7. You can download the OSx version of Virtual box and use it.2. Dual boot- This is more of a permanent commitment on your Mac and I'm not sure if it can be done. Here is the method anyway. Insert your CD in your CD drive. Shut down your Mac. Open it again and enter the boot menu and give the highest priority to CD drive in boot order. If everything is done properly, you'll see Windows loading instead of OSx. Follow onscreen instructions and set a partition of your hard drive for Windows. If everything goes properly, you'll have it windows running.

You have multiple options:1) dual-boot with Boot Camphttp://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/2) virtualizationhttps://www.virtualbox.org/https://parallels.sjv.io/c/119570/1081277/13842?subId1=UUmuoUeUpU80117&subId2=emuo&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.parallels.com%2Fproducts%2Fdesktop%2Fhttp://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/overview.html3) stand-alone Windows installationhttp://derekhat.com/install-vista-on-a-macbook-without-bootcamp/ (same process for any other Windows 7)
