So I just installed Ubuntu 64 bit onto my Dell Studio 1558 which currently dual-boots with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Unfortunately whenever I run Ubuntu, I notice that there is a lot of lag after the first half hour of use before having to reboot my laptop. I'm wondering how to fix this, because I'd love to use Ubuntu without having to worry about intense lag interfering with my use.
Another thing I was wondering how to fix is the fact that whenever I boot into Ubuntu and load a video on YouTube or something, when I have it in fullscreen for more than like 8 minutes, my whole computer starts lagging.
Please help me fix this problem. I appreciate the help.

It is possible you are running into an overheating problem. As per Wikipedia:"The 1557 and 1558 model are known to have problems with overheating, which is generally linked to 3D video graphics related gaming or other 3D applications. Downloading the latest ATI catalyst drivers and BIOS updates does help reduce the risk of these problems. The 1557 and the 1558 are affected by hard to maintain components which make it hard to clean out blocked heatsink vents or to clean and replace thermal paste due to the combination fan and heatsink design."
