Twitter has just been blocked in Turkey. My question is how get around the block and access Twitter in Turkey. I am worried that other websites will get blocked as well so whatever solution unblocks Twitter should have the ability to unblock blocked sites in general. Thanks.

Good question. At this point, changing your DNS servers is no longer a tenable option. But... VPNs still work, and work well. And, given that businesses depend on VPN services, they're pretty much unlikely to get blocked. There are some paid ones available, but you can also use Hotspot Shield or Hola. These are free (albeit ad-supported) and should work like a charm. Let me know how you get on!

Not sure, but if you're using Chrome, you could try the Zenmate extension, which does work pretty well so I'm told.

This is "work in progress" as the site blocking techniques catch up with the users' workarounds. Start by reading this article:http://www.thewire.com/global/2014/03/how-turkeys-twitter-users-are-working-around-ban/359415/Changing the DNS servers is no longer effective, so move to the other methods. Also, google "getting around twitter block" (without the quotation marks) and you'll find other methods. At the moment, using TOR looks like the best method, but my guess is its time will come too. I imagine that eventually users & services abroad will set up mirror services (proxies) and VPN services and in the end Erdogan will relent, but it may take some time...
