I just received a Nook eReader from Barnes & Noble as a gift. I have it up and running with my account and the device works great, except that I can't buy books from the B&N.com store because my billing address for my credit card is not in the US or Canada, because of copyright issues.

I could try the Amazon shop but then I would have to deal with the DRM obstacle and that would substituting one problem for another.

I tried buying a Nook Gift Card with my credit card (which I could do) and then using that credit to buy the ebooks, but it didn't work.

Does any one have a solution to overcome this? Or any other store I can use to buy books for the nook without dealing with this whole copyright problem?

you cannot purchase NOOK Books outside the U.S.to buy NOOK Books, the customer must have:1. A U.S. billing address &2. A U.S. I.P. address.Exception for U.S. Military : (1) U.S. Military Exception for NOOK Books—A non-U.S. I.P. address is accepted when the customer has a U.S. military email address which ends in .mil or .gov.so if u have somebody in US or US military they can buy it for u.

Unfortunately, you can't. All e-books sold by Barnes & Noble are restricted for use in the U.S. You can buy e-books in the ePUB format from other booksellers. The Nook, Kindle, and iPad support that format as well as others e-readers.A few such sites are:epubBooks: http://www.epubbooks.com/Feedbooks: http://www.feedbooks.com/Books on Board: http://www.booksonboard.com/index.php?ebooks-audio-booksBe sure to ask before you buy from any of them whether or not the ePub files are DRMed and if the Nook can work with it properly. Unprotected ePub files are not a problem.
