What format do I need to convert .avi files to that I can write on a DVD and watch on my TV?

Yep has to be DVD Flick! I put all my D-town podcats on DVD and watch it in the morning coffee break with my wife on TV

X's 2. I use dvdflick to convert the file to a format that will play on any dvd player and it works great. It can take a while but it's worth it.

1. Get a new DVD player that can play DivX (nowadays you can find them upscaling to 1080). Many also has the USB input on the front as well. This is very efficient, less time consuming.2. DVD Flick is free and good, as the threads listed in the comments above has suggested.

You can burn the avi file with windows movie maker or windows movie player, or just data burn it as divx format and view on your usb compatible divx player...
