I think I have malware installed that is affecting my browsers:
Chrome: I think some program/script is installed through which I am continuously seeing two iframe style adds (left and right) of every webpage . They are very annoying and most importantly I am concerned about security.
IE9: I am getting clicks or pop ups on every page.
Can you please suggest a good malware/adware removal tool to clean up my browsers?

check what extensions you have installed. Uninstall as many as you can. Goto control panel, see how many softwares you can do without. uninstall as many as you can. Once the spam is uninstalled, you're good to go.

Malwarebytes, its a free Spyware scanner, give it a shot
2012-10-02 11:54:53
Use IObit Malware Fighter or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. For both free version would be enough.

Check your browser plugins first. Most malware attacks happen through plugins. Disable all suspicious plugins and check if your problem is solved.

Hello! I think that you should use "Avast! anti-virus" because it got the best test results, and will keep you computer safe. I use it myself on all of my computers, and i have never had a problem with viruses since i downloaded it! :D

Malwarebytes is a must, remove all plugins and remove all additional toolbars installed. Some are real pains to remove so don't think it's truly gone until you have restarted at least 3 times.

i had the same issue before . i just removed the plugins and addons on my browser that i didn't install myself ( some i found installed and i don't remember i installed them ) then the problem solved .

I recommend this solution as most malwware attacks take charge through plugins and addons.

Hola Kushal! There are so many great free options available, so be sure to try those before spending a single penny on paid service. I personally use Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Essentials, and occasionally Iobit Malware Fighter. (The last one is a paid service but you can get it for free with your MUO points.)

Try either MalwareBytes, Comodo Internet security Premium, Microsoft Security Essentials, SUPERAntiSpyware. All are free softwares and can help in removing malwares. I would rather suggest to use MalwareBytes or SUPERAntiSpyware first, update the signature files, do a full scan and remove the malware installed first. Then install Comodo Internet Security Premium Free edition in your computer for future protection. Comodo Internet Security Premium Free edition has a very good firewall, antivirus and anti spyware/malware integrated in a single product to keep you safe from the internet.

One of the best is
Malwarebytes
. Just use the free version (don't activate the Pro trial). This doesn't provide active protection, but is useful to run a full scan every couple of weeks. In addition, you should use something else that provides real-time protection of your system such as Microsoft Security Essentials, Avira, or Avast!. AVG has become a resource hog over the last few years so I don't recommend that one. There are also paid solutions such as Norton, Norman, Sophos. There are also paid versions of Avira and Avast, but they don't really offer anything above and beyond their free version. In some tests, their free versions actually perform better than their paid versions.

I am using Linux (Ubuntu) from past few years and I never had any problem with Malware. I never installed any antivirus solution too. You too can try. Its free.

Hi KushalMy mother in law had similar issues following a visit from her young nephews - they had installed all kinds of things!I installed the free software from Microsoft that looks after virus protections and malware and that helped a bunch. Also, find the setting for blocking popup windows in your browser. If you are more adventurous, you could also look in "uninstall programmes" in control panels to see if there are obviously dubious applications installed.Someone else will have better advice than me, but that might get you started.good luck
