Which brands are likelier to get Android system updates to their models even as long as two years after the models' release? For example , if I get a tablet from Dell and phone from Micromax , then which of the two would provide new system updates?

Normally it's the brands that care enough about their customers that determines this.

well i dont know if there are different projects or by time Google will lower hardware requirements, but i think devices who have just a 512MB of RAM will be supported now for processors this is another question, nothing definitive yet.

In addition, the Nexus devices, such as the Nexus 5 or Nexus 7, are straight from Google and as such receive Android updates much sooner than other makers, like Samsung. I just received the 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 updates within less than a week of each other.

OS support for devices is mostly influenced by the devices "tier" and refresh cycle.A higher tier device (flagship device, most expensive one) is most likely to get updates the fastest and for the longest time. If a devices family has seen a refresh, a new generation, then the older one no longer has priority for updates and at some point will be dropped all together.Between manufacturers I would say a smaller and/or lesser known manufacturer is more likely to offer a long term support than global player who release new hardware twice a year or more frequent.

Thanks. I understand that Nexus devices are most likely to not only receive updates but continue receiving updates. Please tell , that for non-Nexus devices what factors increase the likelihood to receive updates ( repeated updates ). Is it the specs or is it the brand reputation. If brand , then which non-Nexus brand names do you think would receive updates? Is Dell brand in Google list of upgrades?
