Another CES has come and gone in Las Vegas. And as expected, the largest electronics show of 2023 featured a boatload of smart home technology as it roared back to full steam after the pandemic years.

Here are some of the best products we saw this year.

Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

You’ll never need to lift a finger to vacuum and mop your floors with the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra. The new top-of-the-line robot vacuum was unveiled by the company at CES.

When done cleaning, it will head to the RockDock Ultra System to automatically wash the mop, empty dust, refill clean water, and self-clean the mop pad. New warm-air drying will also prevent mold growth and odors on both the mop pad and dock. When mopping, the mop features two vibration modes for the best possible cleaning.

For vacuuming, it now offers a dual roller brush system to better pick up dirt and grime on your floors while being more effective against hair tangles. The suction power has also been improved from the previous generation.

Govee AI Gaming Sync Box

Govee AI Gaming Sync Box - CES Booth Lineup

Game on with a great new lighting system from Govee. Its AI Gaming Sync Box is an AI-powered way to sync smart lighting with the gaming action on the screen. The experience will flow and change lights automatically.

Currently, four popular games are supported—League of Legends, Valorant, and Apex Legends. But more are promised for its release in March. Each game features more than 30 customized game lighting effects. For fast-paced gaming, the device supports 240Hz. The delay while playing is less than 16 milliseconds.

The box features three HDMI in ports and one HDMI out for quick input switching.

Roku Select and Roku Plus Series TVs

Roku continues to make a move into more than just streaming devices. At the conference, the company announced a wide lineup of self-branded TVs.

The Roku Select and Roku Plus series will feature 11 models ranging from 24 inches to 75 inches. Buyers can choose from both HD and 4K models. All of the TVs will come with either a Roku Voice Remote or Roku Voice Remote Pro.

While the company has always been a big name in streaming, it will be interesting to see how its inexpensive TVs will be accepted by the market as part of its bigger leap into the broader smart home market.

Rachio Smart Hose Timer

Rachio brought smart home technology to the front yard with its Smart Sprinkler Controller that can help you automatically save water while still helping you keep your lawn green and healthy.

The system uses weather information and more to determine whether to turn on your lawn sprinklers.

And the company’s new Smart Hose Timer brings the same smarts to your outdoor faucet. Instead of having to worry about hand watering, the system comes with a WiFi Hub and timer valve. So instead of having to head outside to turn on a sprinkler, you’ll just need a few taps in the companion app. You can also create watering programs that will automatically be skipped if it rains.

Nanoleaf Sense+ Controls and “Nala” Automation Learning Assistant

Nanoleaf offers a wide variety of different lighting products for a smart home. But the Sense+ Controls and “Nala” Automation Learning Assistant wants to make lighting control a handsfree affair. The Matter-enabled package, running on the Thread protocol, is made of three devices—a hardwired smart light switch, a wireless smart light switch, and the Nala Learning Bridge.

All three work together with Nanoleaf’s Automation Leaning Assistant, also named Nala, to better understand your lighting prefaces from everyday use and your usual routines. The system will predict your usual actions like turning lights on and off and brightness or color adjustments.

EcoFlow Whole-Home Backup Power

EcoFlow is ready to give your home power in an emergency. The company’s Whole-Home Backup Power Solution is designed to do exactly what it says—keep the lights on and more after a major storm, natural disaster, or something else for up to a full week.

It features two of the company’s DELTA Pro units for a combined output of 7200W and 240V. As you probably could have expected, the system supports solar charging with up to 1600W per unit. With a 2800W input from solar, the entire system can reach full charge in under two hours.

Philips Hue Sync TV

It’s gotten easier, and less expensive, to use Philips Hue lights to create an immersive entertainment experience when watching certain Samsung TVs. The new Philips Hue Sync TV app is now available to download on a 2022 and newer Samsung OLED TV in the Q60 or higher range. With the app, you don’t need to purchase another external box to sync your lights to anything that’s happening on screen.

The app allows you to adjust the intensity of the syncing, adjust the brightness, set a video or game mode, and more. It supports all image formats and even native apps on the TV.

GE Profile Smart Mixer

The GE Profile Smart Mixer brings smart technology to the kitchen to help you achieve baking perfection.

A built-in smart scale will precisely weigh ingredients in the bowl without needing additional equipment. Auto Sense Technology will monitor the change in texture and viscosity and optimize mixing performance to help prevent overtaxing and undermining. It also offers voice control so you can keep working without interruption. The companion app also offers guided recipes.

Lockly Flex Touch Pro

If you have an apartment or rent a home, you might think smart home technology isn’t for you. But that’s not the case with the Lockly Flex Touch Pro. The device can transform any existing deadbolt into a smart lock without the need to replace existing door hardware or keys.

The retrofit technology uses biometrics to help you unlock your door with a fast-response sensor that can act under 0.3 seconds. With Wi-Fi capability, you can also check the status of your door with the companion app and even control it with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. The battery lasts for up to 9 months with regular use. And there’s no need to worry about locking the door when you leave as you can program it to automatically lock.

Get Ready for a Big Year In Smart Home Technology

CES is always a great way to see what’s coming in technology during the year. These great products are helping to show that 2023 will be a big year for the smart home.
