Android is popular among the masses due to its customizable nature. As such, depending on your Android phone—and the leeway the manufacturer offers—you can change its appearance and functionality to create a tailored experience.

On most phones, you'll need multiple apps to achieve this. But if it's a Samsung, you only need one app. Good Lock.

Good Lock is a free app available on the Galaxy Store that gives you access to a range of modules that enable you to fully customize your device. Here are the best Good Lock modules we recommend using to personalize your Samsung phone.

You can install all the modules in this guide directly from within the Good Lock app. Check out our guide on how to get started with Samsung Good Lock if you haven't used it before.

1. Camera Assistant

Camera Assistant is a Good Lock module you must install on your phone if you click a lot of pictures. It allows you to customize some Camera app settings (that are otherwise unavailable) and augment its performance by activating or modifying certain features.

For instance, using this module, you can eliminate shutter delay on your device to capture photos faster. Or you can set the shutter to prioritize focus to get steadier shots.

Among other things, the Camera Assistant module also comes with the Auto-lens switching option. Enabling it allows the Camera app to automatically pick the best lens to capture a shot based on the environmental conditions, so you can focus more on what you're shooting, rather than the tech you're using.

2. QuickStar

QuickStar lets you customize various aspects of your phone's Quick Settings panel. You can also use it to hide system icons from the status bar if you feel it's overcrowded. For example, you can disable the battery icon if you've already enabled the battery percentage on your device.

Similarly, you can customize the appearance of the clock and tweak some of the date and time attributes. Some options QuickStar offers in this regard include Show Date, Show Seconds, and the ability to change the clock's position.

Lastly, the module provides a bunch of themes you can use to change the appearance of the Quick Settings panel. And, for those who wish for a more personalized touch, there's the option to create your own theme as per your preference.

3. LockStar

LockStar takes Lock screen customization on Samsung phones to the next level. Not only does it help you beautify your Lock screen, but it also enables you to make it more functional.

To begin with, the module lets you customize the padlock icon by swapping it for a new one with a different color. Then you can personalize the clock and relocate it to your preferred area on the screen. And in pretty much the same way, you change the visual appearance of the notification area and move it, along with the music widget, to a different position.

Additionally, with LockStar, you can modify the app shortcuts at the bottom of the screen. So if you don't like the default Phone and Camera shortcuts, you can swap them for something more useful. Or, you can create a new shortcuts tab (with up to six apps) to launch apps directly from the phone's Lock screen.

NavStar enables you to customize the navigation system on Samsung phones. It lets you do this for both button-based and gesture-based methods, and once you enable it for either method, you get access to all the customization options.

If you prefer button-based navigation, NavStar gives you plenty of icons to use as navigation buttons. Or you can create a custom navigation bar with icons from an even larger set. This also enables you to add an extra button in the navigation bar and control several aspects of the icons, like color or transparency.

Meanwhile, those who like gesture navigation also get some customization options. For instance, you can change the appearance of the gesture handle, increase or decrease the back-gesture area along the left and right edges of the screen, or enable the back gesture in full-screen mode, like in games, which can be quite useful.

5. Routines+

Routines+ is Bixby Routines on steroids. It adds advanced features to Bixby Routines to help you create more powerful routines. For starters, you get a few templates that you can customize to fulfill your objectives. These are then saved to your device, and you can access them under your phone's Settings.

As of writing this, Location based quick access and Control arrow keys with S Pen are two of the most useful templates available on Routines+. But there are a few more options, like Run a touch macro and Fingerprint to website, that you can put to good use too.

Besides creating routines, you can share them or export them, perhaps to move them to a new device or back them up before modifying them. Likewise, Routines+ also lets you import routines as well.

6. RegiStar

RegiStar is a powerful Good Lock module that can do a lot of things. With it, you can get the back-tap functionality on your phone to easily perform your most frequently performed actions.

In the same vein, the module also lets you extend your phone's Side button's functionality. To make this possible, it offers a new press-and-hold action for the Side button, to which you can assign any action, including opening an app, and carry it out more conveniently.

Alongside adding new functionality, RegiStar has a few other useful features. Setting change history is one of them, and it lets you view all your previous system setting modifications. Then, there's the ability to customize the Settings home page and arrange the menu order and group settings, which allows you to eliminate unneeded items from the Settings menu.

7. MultiStar

MultiStar is a Good Lock module aimed at helping you tweak the multitasking experience on your Galaxy device. With the help of this module, you can modify the behavior of the multi-window and Samsung DeX features to make the most of them.

For instance, if you frequently use apps in the split-screen view, you can turn on the quick launch shortcut, which will allow you to press and hold the Recents key to open an app in the split-screen view. Or, you can reduce screen room to make space for more content on the screen when you have two apps open in the split-screen view.

Similarly, you can customize DeX's behavior. MultiStar offers a bunch of options for this, such as the ability to force high resolutions for external display, show more than five apps on the connected display, automatically open the last app when you start or leave DeX, and more. Additionally, you can adjust the delay time for the taskbar and header bar.

An Unparalleled Customization Experience

Offering a native customization utility on its devices is one of the best decisions from Samsung, and it makes its Galaxy devices the most customizable Android phones on the market by a stretch.

We've only touched upon the possibilities with the Good Lock app in this list, and there are several other modules to check out. So download and explore the app yourself to find new ways to customize your device and get more out of it.
