Food delivery apps have grown massively in popularity over the last few years. But with so many options to choose from in front of you, you're probably wondering which is the best food delivery app to use.

We'll take a look at six of the top delivery apps, like Uber Eats or Grubhub, to help you find the best delivery app for your particular needs.

Uber Eats: The Best All-Round Food Delivery App

Uber Eats is the number one pick all around. Consistent low delivery fees, quick deliveries, and great daily deals are a few of the features that make this app the star of the show.

You'll also find a wide selection of compatible restaurants to order from as a benefit of Uber's well-known brand. That said, with all those options, you might need to get help deciding where to eat.

Use the Home page to sort restaurants by Family Meals, Top Eats, Essentials, Deals, Delivery Time, and more.

Uber Eats is unique amongst the best food delivery apps in that it offers sorting options for dietary restrictions such as Halal, Allergy Friendly, and Vegan. This is convenient to cut down on the clutter of restaurants you know you don't want to order from.

Aside from food delivery, Uber Eats also allows you to order your prescriptions or groceries through one of its partnered companies.

On a personal level, we've also had exceptional driver service ordering with Uber Eats. However, on the off chance of a delivery issue, customer service can be a bit slow to respond through the app. Dealing with customer service was by no means a regular occurrence, though.

Becoming an Uber Rewards member is free and lets you rack up points for Uber and Uber Eats orders which you can use to claim discounts and other benefits.

The Eats Pass gets you free delivery on eligible orders and five percent off orders over $15, plus other exclusive perks. Its referral program will fetch you $10 off a $25 order when a friend uses your code in their first order.

Grubhub & DoorDash: The Best Delivery Apps for Deals

We've included two apps under the Deals category, DoorDash and Grubhub, because the best features of each app are its discounts and promotions.

Grubhub

GrubHub has its own Perks page featuring deals for every flavor craving. Free delivery, coupons, and cashback deals are just a few other perks that GrubHub has to offer.

Along with these great specials, you'll find all the usual delivery and pickup options for local restaurants. Pickup will show you a map of restaurants with available delivery to you. Tap Sort and you have options to organize by speed of delivery, price, rating, and distance to your home. Preorder allows you to schedule an order ahead of time in case you know you'll need lunch at work on Monday and don't want to forget.

Grubhub+ gets you unlimited free delivery and exclusive discounts. You can try it free for two weeks. The referral program earns you $10 of Grubhub credits after you invite a friend and they complete their first order.

DoorDash

DoorDash's Offers page is filled with similar deals to what you'll find on GrubHub. Free delivery and 20-percent-off coupons are some of the offers you can expect to see

The Home screen is where you'll find food delivery options and curated daily deals. You can sort by user rating, delivery in under 30 minutes, price, and cuisine type. Pickup will show you a map of local restaurants that accept DoorDash orders.

DoorDash's DashPass offers free delivery and reduced service fees across your orders. Its referral program nets you $20 in credits whenever someone signs up with your referral link and spends $15 or more.

Postmates: The Simplest Food Delivery App

Postmates is the best app to go from opening an app to having food show up at your doorstep in the shortest possible time. It doesn't hide behind a slew of fancy bells and whistles; its game is food delivery and pickup orders and it plays it well.

Favor: The Best Food Delivery App for Texans

Favor is native to Texas and stands out for its freedom of use. You can order from a very wide selection of stores because rather than sending an order directly from the app to a restaurant, a Favor Runner submits the order in your place and picks it up for delivery.

Understandably, Favor's delivery fees can get fairly expensive depending on the time it would take a driver to complete the task. For example, delivery fees to Walmart are higher because a Runner has to collect your order, then run it through the checkout, and finally deliver it to your doorstep.

To combat these costs, Favor runs regular deals you can enter in the Credits and Promo Codes section of the profile menu. These typically offer in-store credit that you can use to cover delivery and service fees.

Instacart: The Best Delivery App for Groceries

Perhaps you're looking to get groceries delivered rather than fast food. Instacart has you covered there—select your preferred grocery store from a list of local options and schedule when you'd like the delivery to arrive.

Then fill your cart with your grocery list and order away; it's that simple.

You'll find coupons and more ways to keep money in your pockets on the Savings page. These let you save a pretty penny if you're looking to stock your shelves with the advertised deals.

Instacart Express offers free delivery on orders over $35 along with lower service fees.

Fast Food Isn't Your Only Delivery Option

We've shown you six great apps for all your food delivery needs, but there are many more choices than this. If none of them fit your needs, there may be a more specific choice for your area.

Delivery apps boomed during the coronavirus pandemic, and now you have better options than ever before to get whatever you want delivered right to your doorstep. You could even choose to eat healthier while using a food delivery app.
