I opened a new Facebook account, so when I went in and signed in, I was not only asked to give my email address, but asked for my email password to my server.

I want to open Facebook, but do not want to give my email password to get in. How do I avoid this?

Does it ask for your Email credentials every time? Facebook has a Find Friend feature that uses imported contacts from other email services. Could that be it? You shouldn't have to fill out anything if you're not using that feature. It may have just asked you for it since it's a new account, but you should be able to just skip that step.
