My kid's school runs an email address which is cleared by parents, for parents to send their concerns / questions to.
They want to publish a cell phone number which can receive SMSs and send them to the email address, as some parents do not have easy access to email.
The email is cleared via a webmail client, and the originating cell number should be available so that feedback can be sent back to the parent (by SMS or phone call).
Can you recommend a service? A free or near-free service would be ideal.

Little known fact: you can send an SMS in an email. Just enter the email address where the phone number usually goes. No smart phone required.

Try to check IFTTT.com, set up recipes with1) Trigger:email, action:SMS2)Trigger:SMS, action:emailIt has some limitations, but I think it'd suffice to link email address and sms.

Yes I would recommend IFTTT, they have a fairly robust service. But I think a lot of phones allow you to send emails through sms as Justin explained, and as long as it's just text there are no extra (data) charges.

I think the system is working, so you don't need to do it.And sending email is as easy as sending sms, you just need to learn it once.
