There are many reasons why you may not get audio - wrong or corrupt driver is just one of them! To check the driver, open the device manager and look under "sound, video and game controllers". if the sound card is shown there, double click on it and see what it says ("This device is working properly." or something else?). If it is not shown there, look under "Other devices" and see if it (or something that could be it) is displayed. The combination of these two will tell you whether the device is installed, and running properly. If not, you may need a different driver or to reinstall it.If it is not the driver, it could be the volume control (there are several and they are in different places depending on the version of Windows), or it could be a physical issue (physical volume control, on/off switch, batteries or power supply if they're external loudspeakers etc).

Do you use on-board sound or do you have a dedicated sound card? Have you installed drivers for that device?Go into Control Panel > System and Security and open up the device manager. See if any unknown ("?") device is listed. The Catalyst Audio Driver is solely for audio output via the HDMI port on your graphics card.
