Known for its full suite of smart security cameras, Arlo announced the launch of its first DIY home security system at CES 2022.

Initially, Arlo announced its plans for a DIY security system in 2019. However, it's finally delivering the redesigned home security monitoring solution three years later.

With a 2022 CES Innovation Award already under its belt, here's what we know about Arlo's latest offering so far and why it could be a game changer.

Arlo Launches a DIY Security Monitoring Solution

The Arlo Security System features a built-in siren, motion detector, and smoke/carbon monoxide sensor. In addition, it also has a backlit panel with NFC compatibility. With NFC, users can quickly disarm it in a single tap, instead of having to fumble around with endless taps.

According to Arlo, the DIY security monitoring solution is capable of identifying water leaks, light changes, temperature changes, and door and window openings. In addition, the security sensor is small, lightweight, and runs on battery power.

If you're an existing user of the Arlo security cameras, the Arlo Security System is also confirmed to be compatible.

Building an Inclusive Smart Home Experience With Arlo

In a bid to create more inclusive smart home environments, Arlo also joins Matter. Matter is a smart home interoperability protocol, which aims for compatibility across devices created by different manufacturers.

There is currently no official word yet on its new security system's smart home integrations. Although, it's important to note that some prominent brands under the Matter alliance are Google, Apple, and Amazon.

Get Your Hands on the Arlo Home Security System

Unfortunately, details are still under wraps for how much Arlo's new home security system will cost. In addition, there's no word yet if users will need to pay additional subscription fees to use the system.

With this, those looking to get their hands on the Arlo Home Security system may need to wait a little longer for the official details at its launch. The system is slated to arrive on the market in the first half of this year.
