No matter what browser I use, I have problems with Flash, at least that is what I am being told to update all the time. I have even tried uninstalling and re-installing Adobe Flash, but I still have the same problem. I keep switching browsers to whatever works, but it is happening on them all.

My Laptop is reasonably new and I regularly run cleaners and virus checkers, etc. and try to keep everything updated.

Also, when I do open a link, I always have to open it twice because the first time it is always an ad. I have run everything I can think of to get rid of malware, etc, but it is still happening. Once I open the link a second time I get the page I want, but the first is always an ad.

Most probably the Flash issue and the ad malware is inter-related. removing the malware should resolve the Flash issue too. Install the free version of Malwarebytes, as already suggested by Alan Wade, and do a thorough check. Download from http://www.malwarebytes.org/ , the free download and at the last screen of installation, before clicking finish, tick off the pro version trial offer.
