I have a Quicken file that goes back 6 years. Every time I open, close, or backup, all that data is dealt with and risks corruption. Do you recommend archiving older than 1 year every few years or copying and using just the current year? Any reasons NOT to do this?

Try to find out which one is doing this) Export every account to QIF2) Import each account to a separate file.3) Check each file 4) Test each file (do a 'download quotes' to see corrupted accounts ).Do backup of all the accounts independently, andmade a copy of each with Quickens copy utility. then you can find corrupted one.

I would mix it up ~ like you do for all important data.Keep one year back, archive everything before 2010, backup weekly/monthly depending on your needs and how easy it is to do.
