Apple One bundles all of Apple's subscription services into a single discounted package. But what happens if you subscribe to one of those services already? And what if you've already got a free trial for Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, or any other service? Will you lose it if you sign up for Apple One?

Understanding how Apple One works with your existing subscriptions and free trials can get a little confusing. But don't worry: we answer the most frequently asked questions below to help you know exactly what to expect if you sign up.

What Do You Get With the Apple One Free Trial?

If you've never subscribed to Apple One in the past, you can sign up now to get a one-month free trial. When you sign up for a free trial, you need to choose the Apple One subscription plan you want: Individual, Family, or Premier.

Each plan offers a different set of services, with a different amount of iCloud storage. The plan you sign up for determines which services and how much iCloud storage you get with the free trial.

But here's the catch...

The Apple One free trial doesn't include any services you've ever used or had access to before. It also doesn't include any services you subscribe to at the moment.

Which Services Aren't Included in the Apple One Free Trial?

Apple already offers a range of free trials for its different services. If you've ever activated one of these free trials—no matter how long ago—then you won't get access to that service again during the Apple One free trial. You will, however, get access to that service as soon as you start paying for Apple One when the trial ends.

The Apple One free trial also doesn't include any services you've paid to subscribe to in the past, or any services you currently subscribe to right now.

If you currently subscribe to individual Apple services that are part of your Apple One plan, those paid subscriptions continue throughout the Apple One free trial and automatically cancel when you start paying for them with your Apple One subscription when the trial ends.

How Does the Apple One Free Trial Work With Family Sharing?

The Family and Premier plans for Apple One let you share each of the included services with everyone in your Family Sharing group. However, no matter how many people are in your family sharing group, you only get one free trial to share between you.

If you've already benefitted from an Apple One free trial in your Family Sharing group, you can't get another free trial by having someone else in your group sign up. You can't even get another free trial if you leave your group and sign up for an individual plan.

What Happens to Existing Free Trials When You Sign Up for Apple One?

After buying a new Apple product, you might already have a one-year free trial for Apple TV+, a three-month free trial for Apple Arcade, or a three-month free trial for Apple Fitness+. So what happens to these extended free trials if you sign up for a shorter, one-month Apple One free trial?

Well, during the course of your Apple One trial, everything stays the same. You can still use your existing free services alongside anything else you get with Apple One.

However, as soon as the trial ends and you start paying for Apple One, it automatically replaces all your existing subscriptions and free trials.

That means you lose the remaining time on your individual free trials and effectively start paying for those services as part of your Apple One subscription. Even worse, if you cancel Apple One after starting to pay for it, you don't get any of your old free trials back.

Apple won't issue a refund or discount for any of these free trials, so it's usually best to wait until you've used all your free trials before signing up for Apple One.

If you want to keep your extended free trials, make sure you cancel your Apple One free trial at least 24 hours before it ends.

What Happens to Existing Subscriptions When You Sign Up For Apple One?

It's quite possible you already subscribe to one of the services included in Apple One. If this is the case, your active subscription will automatically cancel itself as soon as you start paying for Apple One.

Nothing changes with your subscriptions during the Apple One free trial—you still keep paying for your services as you normally would until the moment the free trial ends.

If you're partway through an annual subscription when your Apple One subscription starts, Apple automatically refunds you for all the unused months you already paid for. This refund goes back to the payment method you used for the original subscription.

Monthly subscriptions simply cancel themselves without any refund when your Apple One subscription begins. You might be able to contact Apple directly to ask for a refund of any unused weeks if you get particularly short-changed by this.

How Do iCloud Storage Subscriptions Work With Apple One?

Every Apple One plan includes a different amount of iCloud storage, from 50GB all the way up to 2TB. If your Apple One plan gives you the same amount or more storage than you already have, your existing iCloud storage subscription automatically cancels itself when you start paying for Apple One.

However, if you currently pay for more iCloud storage than you get with your Apple One plan, your iCloud storage subscription will continue alongside your Apple One payments. This means you can add your Apple One iCloud storage to your separate iCloud storage for even more space.

You can choose to cancel a separate iCloud storage subscription at any time, at which point your storage shrinks down to the amount you get with your Apple One plan.

How Do You Manage an Apple One Subscription or Free Trial?

You can manage all your Apple One and App Store subscriptions by going to Subscriptions under the Apple ID settings for your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. From here, you can cancel or change your existing subscriptions. It's also where you need to go to sign up for Apple One or activate your one-month free trial.
