An upcoming iOS update will add swipe motions to Apple Music so that you can quickly and easily add songs into your queue.

What Swipe Action Is Apple Music Adding?

As spotted by user freaktheclown on Reddit, Apple will soon be adding swipe actions to Apple Music, as part of an upcoming iOS update.

This is currently available to all users of iOS 14.5 beta 2. The iOS 14.5 update is likely to leave beta and go public later this month, though the date hasn't been confirmed by Apple.

The update means you can now partially swipe on a song to add it to your queue, or full swipe to have the song play next. It's similar to what Spotify has offered for a while (see our comparison of Apple Music versus Spotify).

You will receive a brief pop-up notification once you've performed the swipe to confirm the action.

The Apple Music menu interface is also being changed. Now, when you long-press on a song, the menu appears in context rather than taking over the whole screen. Screenshots also suggest that you will also be able to tap a dedicated menu icon to bring it up.

These are small changes, but ones which should make using Apple Music much smoother and efficient.
