After some recent speculation, Apple has now launched a MagSafe Battery pack. The new product uses Apple's MagSafe technology to attach to the back of compatible devices and wirelessly charge them.

Apple Launches a MagSafe Battery Pack

Apple has just launched the MagSafe Battery Pack. This new accessory uses Apple's MagSafe technology to magnetically attach to the back of compatible devices and wirelessly charge them.

The ‌MagSafe Battery Pack‌ retails for $99. Unfortunately, the accessory is only available in white, so this may ruin any colored aesthetics you have with your iPhone and case. Apple has covered the Battery Pack in silicon, so it should also maintain some durability.

Like many other wireless chargers, Apple's ‌MagSafe Battery Pack‌ can only charge an ‌iPhone‌ at 5W, so it may take a little while. However, the Battery Pack can be charged at 15W when you plug it in.

Usefully, you can charge the ‌MagSafe Battery Pack‌ and your iPhone at the same time, or you can charge the ‌MagSafe Battery Pack‌ through your ‌iPhone‌ if it's plugged into a power source. It's also worth noting that the accessory doesn't come with the required charging cable (and neither do iPhones anymore), so you'll need to have a cable.

To check the battery level of your MagSafe Battery Pack, you can use the Battery widget on your iPhone. The accessory's battery level will be displayed in the widget alongside your iPhone's battery level, and any other paired accessories.

One other thing to note is that you'll need iOS 14.7 or later to use the accessory. iOS 14.7 has only just been released on July 13, so you'll need to update your iPhone while you wait for your Battery Pack to arrive.

What Devices Are Compatible With the MagSafe Battery Pack?

Apple's new MagSafe Battery Pack is only compatible with the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

While previous iPhones support wireless charging, none of them include MagSafe. The MagSafe magnets are required to hold the Battery Pack onto your device. Without them, the accessory would just slip right off. Luckily, future iPhones are also due to come with MagSafe.

As with any other MagSafe accessory, the MagSafe Battery Pack will function through a case. Bear in mind that some users have reported cases weakening the magnetic strength, leading to accessories falling off more easily.

Apple Wants to Make Charging a Breeze

MagSafe was designed for accessories just like the new Battery Pack. Being able to effortlessly attach and charge your device is a major pro for the iPhone.

Apple already made your life easier with MagSafe wireless charging, and now wants to make charging on-the-go a breeze too.
