Own an Apple Watch and looking to get in shape for the new year? Apple Fitness+ has got you covered.

Launched this week, Apple Fitness+ is a new subscription service that’s built around all things exercise. It takes workout and other fitness-related data from your Apple Watch, and then uses this to put together personalized workout programs, complete with videos.

Fitness+ Is Like a Sweaty Netflix Subscription

Apple Fitness+ features a library of upwards of 200 on-demand fitness classes you can stream at home using your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV set-top box. These video classes range from high intensity interval training (HIIT), yoga, dance, and core work to treadmill, rowing, and cycling.

Apple has recruited a team of trainers for the endeavor, and promises plenty of "inspiring music from today’s top artists" to keep users motivated.

The app---which shipped as part of iOS 14.3 and requires watchOS 7.2 to work---recommends workouts based on your preferences or current training program. There's also the ability to personalize it further by choosing trainers, session duration, and music in order to fit your preferences.

In Apple's Fitness+ press release, cycling coach Tyrell Désean said:

Our diverse team weaves in all kinds of music to the workouts to inspire and motivate people to work harder and last longer than they ever thought they could. When you hear the beat drop, you can just feel the energy come off the screen. Music, combined with the metrics from Apple Watch that display on-screen, is a really unique way to help get you through the workout!

Fitness+ is Apple's latest move into the subscription services market. It already offers Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple News+. With Apple Fitness+---which is designed to appeal to the health-conscious user base Apple has cultivated through Apple Watch---it is trying to get in on the fast-growing market being carved out by the likes of Peloton.

How Much Does Apple Fitness+ Cost?

Fitness+ costs $9.99/month or $79.99/year. You can also get it along with Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+ and 2TB of iCloud storage, for $29.95/month as part of an Apple One top-tier subscription bundle. (Prices will vary depending where in the world you are.)
