    I think 1080p HD MP4 file is the best choice.  However some youtube videos doesn't have this choice. You may try 720p MP4 file. My tech buddy told me that also stick with MP4 format.

    Normally the better the video, the better the audio. Pick the highest quality/resolution available for a video type and get the best audio. Cell phone / 3gp is going to be terrible. 1080p and 720p will offer pretty decent audio.
    Doesn't mention bit rates (some are variable), but gives a good indication of quality.

    Some video formats work best and are most compatible with certain computers, software or devices.

    * Windows Media Video (.WMV)
    * .3GP (cell phones)
    * .AVI (windows)
    * .MOV (mac)
    * .MP4 (ipod/psp)
    * .MPEG
    * .FLV (adobe flash)
    * .MKV (h.264)

      I want to convert the downloaded videos to mp3,and want to choose the best video with the best sound.Youtube says on Wiki that all video have AAC audio formats! Does that means that the video type 37 has the same audio quality as video type 18?? I want to download the videos that have at least 128kbs audio bitrate.I use them on my computer or mp3 player. Thank U
