What is wrong with my Windows 7 installation?

Narendra July 30, 2011

After installing Windows 7, my PC does not restart and shows black screen. When again I try to install, it shows only ‘press any key to boot from CD or DVD’ and does no action after it.

Did the entire installation complete or was this one of the reboots that is required during the installation itself?

Check your Bios if its configured to start from windows installed hard drive

Use a boot cd to format your hard drive and reinstall windows 7

Hello, did you have windows 7 on your machine running before?  or did you have another operating system and you are upgrading?  Without knowing what the specs of your computer are, is hard to tell.  It is advisable to run the windows 7 upgrade advisor tool before trying to install windows 7.  This tool will let you know, if your system can run windows 7 and also, it would check compatibility with other programs:

Probably this is not the answer you are looking for but hope it helps...

That's the problem, you were installing Windows!

Installing a Linux distribution on top of that massive hunk of proprietary garbage you like to call Windows and that should fix it right up.
