How can I get my Windows Task Manager back?

Alan R. Ehrlich February 18, 2011

My Task Manager now only shows one screen, no tabs, no controls, just a table with Name, PID, Description, Status and Group. Can’t seem to get the full package back. Any suggestions?

Wow! You guys are both quick and great. Never knew that clicking on the white border expanded the view. Thanks so much. BTW - Currently on Win7-64bit.

    Thanks again.

This usually happen when you double-click into the white space around the process listing. By doing it again you should get back to the normal view with all the tabs and menu items.

It's the compact view which works on every Tab in Task Manager since Windows 2000/NT 4.0 ~ not sure about previous versions.

Another option to get the default view back is to:
        1. click Start > Run (Windowskey + R)
        2. type taskmgr.exe
        3. hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift while pressing enter

Though, double-click seems to be the easier option

I just tried that on Win7. If you double click on the white border around any tabbed info frame it expands to fill the task manager window. Double clicking again restores it to the original. I didn't know that before.

First to an antimalware scan on you pc, like with your antivirus, also with superantispyware

    To fix task manager
    download re-enable
