How can I get Windows 7 back after installing Ubuntu alongside?

Priscillia Igba September 19, 2011

I was using Windows 7 and I recently put Ubuntu 11.04 to work alongside, so I can use two operating systems. But after installing Ubuntu, Windows 7 wiped off. What can I do to regain Windows 7?

I have the same problem but mine is I have Windows Vista then I
installed Ubuntu 10.10 alongside with Windows Vista after that I can't
see my Windows Vista anymore. I don't have any back up for those files
since I was confident that I still have Windows after installing Ubuntu
10.10 alongside with it. Please tell me if it works for you :(

This depends. If you performed an install on the whole hard drive (full installation) then Windows 7 is gone. However, if you installed it "alongside" (as you said) it switched to grub and simply isn't showing Windows boot manager.

Read "Restore the Windows Boot Loader After an Ubuntu Update" and tell me if it helps.
