My Updates are turned on, but it dosnt work, when i trie to check for updates it tells me:
Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not runing. You may need to restart your computer.
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel Core i3
DELL INSPIRON n5010
I relly need help with this.
Check if your internet connection working properly.
In Windows 7 access services by running services.msc and check that following services are started : 1) Windows Update 2) Remote Procedure Call (RPC) 3) DCOM Server Process Launcher and 4) RPC Endpoint Mapper. if all are started. stop Windows Update service by double clicking on it, click Stop button and OK button. In windows explorer goto c:\windows\softwaredistribution\datastore\logs\edb.log and deleate edb.log or rename it if you like. Restart windows update service and try to run Windows update.

Thats great but i believe if you do delete locate C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ folder and delete all its content (i deletet only Data Logs folder) then if you open Windows update you will not see history of updates.
I tried to delete all folders but i couldn`t and than i found a comment in that link i followed that and i deleted only data logs, now everything is fine, now i have the service pack 1, before i dind`t have that i dont know exactlly what funktion does.

So how to update a windows update when you can't just update anything?
Update in offline way.

Check Windows Update in ms config and see whether is set to automatic or manual.
Try to run the Windows Update Service in services.

Install I.E. 9. Windows update uses internet explorer to access the Microsoft update site.
have you tried restarting your computer?
if problems still occur, u should check your ms config (maybe some of the services is sets "of")
Open Task Manager and select the Services tab. Scroll down to the wuauserv entry and ensure it is running. If it is not running, you can right-click on it and select Start service. If it fails to start, you will need to research (or report back here with) the error it returns.
