Firstly, update your tablet to latest version of Android. This can be done -

via OTA by - going to Settings--> About device--> Software update.

via Kies by connecting your device to your computer and allowing the software suite to update your tablet.

If your tablet's OS is updated, then try killing all the applications by long pressing the home button and going to task manager tab to kill all processes.

You can always try this: go into Settings, Application Manager (or Manage Apps), All Apps, then scroll to Camera and click on it. From there click on Clear Data. This will reset the settings for the camera and hopefully get it working again.

This may be an obvious question, but have you tried switching the phone off (completely, not "hibernating" it), and starting it again?

Are you on stock firmware/company loaded or using custom?
If on stock go to settings > applications > clear data and cache for camera.
If custom, as the developer or try another ROM.

Also to check, you can install a 3rd party software like Camera 360 Ultimate (It's free), see if you get that error.

Have you tried to update firmware?
Or hard reset (first do backup of files since they will be deleted)
