Why doesn’t Skype show video from my own webcam during calls?

When I make a Skype call the person I am talking to can see me but I can’t see myself in the picture-in-picture view. Why not?

Lea, have you checked that the correct camera is selected in Skype? On Skype on a PC, choose Tools=>Options, click Video Settings in the "General" section and, if necessary, click Webcam settings). If you can't get it to work there either, it's probably a problem with the webcam or its driver.

I fixed this issue for a colleague two weeks ago (Win7). His problem, though he didn't know it, was that his camera was not properly installed. I removed the camera from Computer - Device Manager then ran install new hardware. The camera was picked up automatically and Skype worked perfectly then.

try to Reset Your Skype Settings
Delete the folder (or rename Skype_old) c:Documents and settingsApplication dataSkype. A new one will be created automatically when you sign in again.

I set up video in Skype for Windows desktop but it doesn’t work. What can I do?
