Why does iTunes not recognize this used iPod Classic and can I move my iTunes library to it?

Robin Westcott June 24, 2013

I just purchased a used iPod Classic, 120 GB from a friend of mine. I plugged it into iTunes and it is not recognizing the device. I need help with this!

When I get it recognized it, with your help, will I be able to move my iTunes library on my new device?

    5 tips for you:
    a) Quit and relaunch iTunes
    b) Connect the iOS device to a different USB port on the computer
    c) Reboot the iPhone, iPad, or iPod
    d) Reboot the computer
    e) Use a different syncing cable (if possible)

    1) See if the iPod is locked from syncing with iTunes

    2) See if the iPod version is supported by the current version of iTunes

    3) Update iTunes (if applicable) and iPod (if Applicable)

    4) Check the USB cord for the iPod | See if it's working

    5) Check your computer's devices and USB Ports | Update Drivers, if necessary

    6) try to reset the ipod itself, use the setting's reset.

Can you see the iPod as a hard drive in Windows explorer? Because if not the problem's going to be tough to crack...so let us know.
