Why does Firefox take so long to open on my Windows 7 PC?

Silver May 24, 2013

I am using Mozilla Firefox as my browser. When I try to open the browser I have to wait 2 or 3 minutes before it appears. I am using the most up to date version of Firefox, and my other software and browsers are working properly on my Windows 7 PC

So how can I fix this?

Use CCleaner to disable unnecessary startup services.CCleaner also provides you to manage startup items of Firefox browser. So,you can try to disable them for some time and see any improvements.

If u want to retain your extensions and addons of firefox then you should use RAMDISK --- http://downloadsquad.switched.com/2010/11/10/how-to-move-the-firefox-or-chrome-cache-to-a-ram-disk-and-speed/

Try to run firefox in safe mode by clicking Help>Restart with addons disabled
If Firefox runs properly, the problem is mainly with the addons you have installed. You should consider disabling unnecessary addons.

For me also after switching on the pc for the first time, it takes around 40 sec to load but after that it opens instantaneously. I am using around 9 add-on.

Create a new profile and check that. If FF opens OK. Disable all your extensions and addons on your main profile and check that all is OK.
Enable an extension or addon and keep checking until you find the rogue addon or extension.

Probably lot of addons and extensions are installed, which need to execute when you try to start FireFox. Suggest to try disabling or uninstalling a few and notice if you see any difference.

check to see if you have any Virus on your computer that will slow it down or keep your browser from opening.
