Why can’t I log in to Gmail accounts with Thunderbird after the version 17 upgrade?

I have thunderbird installed, recently I upgraded it to version 17.0 but it can’t log in to gmail accounts after this. Tell me what is the problem and how to solve it?

    Check your POP settings as well as the connection security. It should be SSL/TLS and the authentication mode needs to be set. Then recheck the login to gmail account

    You remove thunderbird and install it again. i have problem once. and fix very easy.

      I did, but it installed in the same way again, even I don't had to log in again

    Have you recently turned on two step verification? That could cause problems too.

    One user(Bree Brocker) under the forum link below has changed the server details to imap.gmail.com from imap.googlemail.com which helped her -
