Why can’t I important mail from Apple Mail to Outlook 2011?

Kelly April 24, 2013

I am just trying to import mail messages from Apple Mail to Outlook 2011.

This morning I had an option to import from Apple Mail when I followed the following route:
File – Import – Information from another application

at the time I was running version 14.1.0

I then upgraded to 14.1.4

I now do not have the option to import from Apple Mail.

Have a look at this forum website:- http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2011-macoutlook/import-mails-from-apple-mail-to-outlook-2011/73393f9b-e3f2-4615-b3df-542abddf8c93

Or you can directly try the third party tool Mail Exporter Pro.

The problem is that Outlook 2011 and the Apple Mail formats are not entirely compatible. For OS X 10.7 and newer even the exported mbox files cannot be important into Outlook 2011.

Usually the safest option is to go from Apple Mail to Thunderbird (using mbox) to Outlook (using PST export) or simpler, using an IMAP account where the mails are stored on the server e.g. Gmail.

If you only have a few dozen Emails you want to move you can drag&drop those from Apple Mail onto on your Desktop and then drag&drop the resulting *.eml files into a folder in the Outlook window.

Another solid (paid) option is the Stellar Apple Mail to Outlook Converter
