Why am I getting this error when trying to create a partition during a Windows 7 installation?

Akhil D August 4, 2013

When I try to install Windows 7 on my laptop, a space of 40GB can’t be created due to this error: error:0x8004240f(problem creating a partition due to this error)

Please help me to recover my memory!

I think we need more information to reliably help you. Did you have Windows 7 installed before? Have you formatted your hard drive? Is it already partitioned?
When you first load your install disk you should see all the partitions and there sizes, what is the partition size ?

The error indicates that there is not enough free space on the hard drive to create a 40GB partition. Apparently the partitions that already exist on that drive have left less than 40GB of unallocated, contiguous space on the drive (or they have consumed all of the drive space). You will need to delete or shrink (and possibly move) existing partitions to free up space for your new partition first.

do you have more than 4 partitions? because you can only have 4 partitions excluding dynamic

Error: "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files." when you try to install Windows 8 (CP)
