Where can I get the drivers for a webcam on a Dell Inspiron N5050?

Anonymous September 26, 2013

I recently got my computer fixed: They had to replace my RAM.

I did have to update a lot of my drivers but I can’t seem to find the drivers for my webcam. I am able to use it on Skype but the icon is missing. I have read other questions here saying to visit the manufacturer page for the proper drivers but I can’t seem to find the drivers for my webcam.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find the proper drivers for my computer webcam, on a Dell Inspiron N5050?

On the underside of your laptop, there should be a label with a Dell Service Tag. Go to the Dell support site for your country, choose one of the support options (e.g. "Home", "Small Business" etc) and type the service tag into the search box. In the next page, you will find all the information relating to your laptop, including drivers. The webcam driver should be listted there.

Dell does not like giving out the actual webcam driver, you will have to download the Dell Webcam Center software that includes the drivers in it: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails?driverId=N2X8D. The actual name given to the drivers is Dell SX2210WFP Monitor Webcam Application, which makes it even harder for most users to find the drivers for the webcam.
