What’s the best offline speech-to-text app for Android?

Adam Borries November 27, 2012

I have a wifi-only Android tablet, which I would sometimes like to use to dictate notes or email while offline. Unfortunately, all the apps I’ve tried so far require the Internet.

Do you know of any app that will do the job without the help of the interwebs?

It is not possible to get the offline recognition unless you upgrade to Jellybean 4.1 or 4.2

You can also try jb rom with ICS to get the offline speech recognition

Nothing. I gave up when I couldn't find one for ICS; I'm not ready to root my device and install Jelly Bean. I guess I'm stuck waiting for Samsung to release an update.

I'm not a developer, and I don't want to spend a whole lot of effort on this; the idea is to save time!

Thanks for the comment, though; I'll watch for it to show up in the app store if something else doesn't come along first.

Good suggestions -- this is more along the lines of what I'm looking for. However, ShoutOut says it's incompatible with my device (no explanation why).
