What is the best light/gorgeous music player for Windows?

Adam C September 2, 2013

Recently my Mac crashed and I lost my favorite music player ecoute. I have looked unsuccessfully for a suitable alternative for Windows. Does anyone know a good replacement (for Desktop or Metro)?

      Sorry about that.

When I originally replied, I looked for a way to mark a comment as my answer but didn't see the check mark...

Thank you for marking it resolved.

I hope you'll find the system much easier to resolve your question.

You could try AIMP3: //www.makeuseof.com/tag/aimp3-excellent-music-library-player-lightweight-free-windows/, many others including Media Monkey (which is a nice player compatible with iOS products), J.River Media Player (similar to Media Monkey with compatibility for iOS products): http://www.jriver.com/. I've used Media Monkey and J.River Media Jukebox, both are nice looking and full of features. As far as how lightweight, I'm not sure, but they run nice and smooth (much better than iTunes and less resource hungry).

It ain't exactly pretty, but Foobar2000 is probably the best lighweight music player for Windows. It does the job wonderfully without bogging down a system with unnecessary crap a la Windows Media Player, iTunes and Winamp. You might also have some joy with Media Player Classic, again, not pretty in the slightest but a workhorse that plays media and calls it a day.

    Foobar2000 - http://www.foobar2000.org/
    Media Player Classic - http://mpc-hc.org/

Both are free. Also be sure to check out our Best Of Windows Software page for a few more recommendations - //www.makeuseof.com/tag/best-windows-software/

      +1 to Foobar.
Been using it since the v1.x version. Light, basic, best!

      Thanks Tim,
I actually did go with foobar2000 and you're right it is fast. I did, however, find a fantastic looking skin on deviant art (http://www.deviantart.com/art/Foobar-Mnlt2-Plus-2-0-297076953) which complements it nicely ;)
