What is a good alternative to Yahoo! Classic Mail other than Gmail?

Fcarey July 9, 2013

As you know, as of tomorrow morning, July 9, 2013, Yahoo will no longer support their wonderful, intuitive, easy-to-use Classic Mail. We need to find a company that will create an email service that emulates Classic.
What do you recommend?
GMail is NOT the answer…

thanks, all!! Great ideas, and some of them I had never found anywhere else!

I will let you know where I land... still experimenting with importing everything from the Yahoo account, and having issues with the many folders that I need.
Bob - How do I find the page that you are referencing? I have already had to switch, so the page no longer appears.., and Googling "Trap.htm" did not work...

Try ZOHO.com or Inbox.com, both are free and have nice clean (NO ads) interfaces. ZOHO offers essentially all the same features as Google.

I like GMX mail and Live mail to name two choices. There are many, MANY alternatives my fellow MUO user! Let us know what you decide upon?

Don't switch over you can still access your Yahoo classic.

I figured out how to get back into my Yahoo classic mail.

Save The page that locks you out .... forcing you update to the new Yahoo spy mail. The page is called "Trap.htm" open it in notepad and scroll to the bottom... copy the last link thats the key
    IE: "nc**.n*.mail.ne*.yahoo.com"
paste it to your browser address bar click enter....... zoom ...... I'm back in my classic Yahoo mail.....

I was reading my emails on my Yahoo! mail classic the other day and after clcking on an email to read, Yahoo! would not allow me to go back to Classic-I HAD no option but to switch to the new mail. I hate it.
So now that the page that locked me out is gone, is there anything I can do to get back to my Classic email? Or is that it, it's gone for good?

You could try Outlook.com and gmx.com. Neither looks quite like "Yahoo classic", but they're both good!

You could install Thunderbird and use that on the desktop. Very similar to Yahoo's classic interface.

I am also fed up with performance issues.
      Thank you for your tips.
The 2 links explain - read them so you are not surprised or disappointed.
It seems to work, am trying it, as I feel it suits me.
If you want to go back to Basic Mail, you need the final link that explains the switch, which is:
Scroll right down t the bottom to select basic and don't forget to SAVE the setting.

I think that the recent interface is better than the classic one...
