How can I upload DVDs I own into iTunes to load onto an iTouch?

RaShell Burke December 28, 2010

I have been trying to upload DVDs that we own into iTunes to be able to download them onto my daughters iTouch. The only way I can find to get movies is to purchase them from iTunes. However, I already bought them once and don’t want to do it again.

You don't need purchase them from iTunes again.Another way, ripper you dvd to iTunes mp4 format.and then sync iTunes to iTouch. If you haven't DVD ripper,I recommend DVD Ripper Pro or Handbrake.

iPod supports only mp4 and h.264 video, you have to convert your movie to iPod compatible video at first, then make a playlist on iTunes, add the converted video to the playlist, plug in your iPod to computer, then sync your iPod with iTunes, done. If you need detailed info, here is a step by step guide will teach you how to put DVD and video to iPod
You can get useful information by visiting Apple official site:

DVD files (.vob) as such is not supported by any of the iPods or iPhone. It needs to be ripped to a single .mp4 .mov or .m4v file. One of the popular DVD Ripper for both Mac and Windows is WinxDVD.

Once it is ripped, you are good to go. Just add the file to iTunes and sync it with your iPod.

However, WinXDVD is not freeware. While it is free to download, it is a trial version and will cease to function, or function fully, after a predetermined period of time. In which case you will need to purchase the product or remove from your computer.

To rip the dvd, you need some software such as freez dvd ripper ( Insert the dvd and select the drive in the software then rip it to the ipod mp4 format. This may take a while depending on the size of the file. After it's finished there should be an mp4 file on your computer with the same content as the dvd. Find the file, import it to your itunes library and then sync it to your daughters itouch.
