Is this unlimited data plan a good deal?

It’s an unlimited data plan.

The download speed is 4 Mbps (mega bits per second) and upload is 768 kbps (kilo bits per second) upto an usage of 8 GB (giga bytes) and after that the speed decreases to 256 Kbps (kilo bits per second). I have to pay around 1000 INR a month (about 20 USD).

Is it too expensive? How much would a plan like this cost in your country? What’s a good alternative?

Seems reasonable. Not too long ago I had a plan for 849+taxes(comes to a little over 1000) at 2mbps.
Though if you are willing to pay a little more than double then Airtel has a plan with FUP of 150Gigs at 4mbps.
But for a 1000 bucks a month, this plan does seem good

According to the mentioned tariff plan,it's too expensive. At INR 1000/- ($20) you are getting to use only 8 GB and that too at such high speed that it will consume that amount of data if you are not much careful about your usage. Moreover, your ISP is even throttling down the speed to 256 Kbps which is too low.Atleast,it must be around 512 kbps.

It's better to have an unlimited plan of INR 899/- to INR 999/- at 1Mbps speed in which Fair usage Policy applies only after if you have consumed data more than 100 GB.Usually, such plan is available at Spectranet ISP.
