How can I turn off Away Mode in Windows 7?

Jerry Mccallister August 9, 2012

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. My Action Center says Away Mode is incompatible with 64-bit and I should disable it. I have searched BIOS and my system for Away Mode to no avail. I need help with this one.

Thank you!

Hello, you must have an AMD based motherboard for away mode to be an option. Away mode is part of the AMD Live software provided by AMD. To disable it, you would have to do the following:

    -- restart your computer
-- keep pressing the "del" key to access BIOS
-- once BIOS is accessed you will see a blue screen with different tabs in the top.
-- Navigate through the screens until you find the CPU settings
-- Under CPU settings, find the "disable AMD Live" option
-- Keep in mind that when in BIOS, you will not be able to use your mouse, you will have to navigate it by using the keyboard
-- navigate to last tab on menu and make sure to save your settings and then restart computer
    -- problem should be solved.

    Hope it helps

    To disable Away mode:
Click Start on the taskbar, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click Power Options.

    Select the Away tab.

Place a uncheck mark in the Enable Away mode check box.

Under Options you can place a check mark next to the following options:

Return the computer from Away mode on mouse or keyboard activity

Prompt for password when the computer returns from Away mode

    Click OK.

Restart the PC for the power settings to take effect.
