How can I stop programs from trying to open in .LNK format?

Whenever I try to open programs, they open in .LNK format, which makes them not work. How do I get it back to normal?

      check out the very first Answer on the first link recommended by Fidelis. That one shares a quick fix to your problem.

    it will fix it.
