Why won’t sound come out of my TV when I connect my computer using the Mini DisplayPort and HDMI cable?

I found answers to my question about how to get video to show up, but the sound doesn’t work. How do I change that?

If your TV has some Outspeaker and a sub, then plug it to you computer like speekers, then do what Jan Fritsch say

You may also need an HDMI cable that supports sound output. Some do, some don't.

See if the TV has any options as well.

Apple supports 8 channel 24-bit audio at 192kHz, Dolby Surround 5.1 and stereo output.

First go into "System Preferences > Sound > Output" and select your TV, STB or wherever the HDMI is connected to.

If you still got no sound try to
    - select "mirror display" for the monitor setup
    - use another display resolution
    - try another Mini-DP to HDMI converter

If all of this fails the best option is the Apple Support or an Authorized Service Provider.
