What smartphone should I buy?

André Kamara October 15, 2012

I’m about to buy a smartphone and I don’t know which one to choose between the two in the title. Here are their specifications : http://www.gsmarena.com/acer_liquid_gallant_duo-4871.php and http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00136083.html

They both are very affordable. Which one would you choose?

I'd go for the Wiko cink, The specs are pretty much the same apart from the different processors. Also the wiko has the nicer design;)

I totally agree about the design ! I'm now thinking... I have a RAM of 6 GB on my laptop so having a "small" RAM on my smartphone shouldn't be so dramatic especially with a Dual Core processor.

I would Acer Liquid Gallant Duo.

But if you can wait please keep an eye on the new Windows Phone 8 devices which will launch in about 2-3 weeks and have the elegance of Iphone with complete smoothness and more customizablity than IOS.

Single core processors can handle decently what is out there, but having 1GB RAM would help lags greatly. I have a dual core with 512MB RAM and it runs low all the time, even being rooted and using AutoRun Manager. Not saying 512MB is bad, just hard to do a lot efficiently as some apps lag or freeze constantly, especially having a decent antivirus/locator app running in the background like Lookout Mobile. Dual core makes the phone run smoother when it behaves, but running low on memory quickly causes the phone to freeze and force close apps more often than you might like.

Thanks for your replies! There is a majority of Galant Duo... The dilemma is the Acer has a RAM of 1 Gb with a single core processor while the Wiko has a RAM of 512 with a dual core processor and a better camera. The Wiko is €30 cheaper than the Acer so it's a really hard choice.

both are neck to neck but considering that, the second one with a dual core A9 I would say go for it... since acer only has single core, and you'll benefit with a dual core in android... the performance will be significant.

The Acer Liquid Gallant Duo is a better choice and also has dual SIM support. Alongwith it I would highly suggest to also check out Sony Xperia Tipo and Sony Xperia Tipo Dual (dual SIM) and Samsung Galaxy Chat GT-B5330 (supports both touchscreen and Qwerty). Also as the first URL you mentioned features phones that are released in India, I am a bit confused where you are located, so if you are India, you can also checkout Karbonn A21.
