What is the shortcut key to go back one page when there is no button in the browser?

There is no arrow on browser to go back. Is there a key on the Microsoft media keyboard, which will allows you to go back to a previous page.

Hello, this is just an example of one:

With this kind of mouse, you can change what the buttons do.  Left key in front is by default used to click to open programs.  Right key in front, provides right click functionality to open menus, etc.  Scroll wheel is used by default to scroll/middle click in pages or you can change it to something else.  Left side button is used by default to go back in a page like for example in browsing to go back to previous page.  Right side button is used by default to go forward in a page.

Hello, I know from your feedback that you found the answer for your issue.  May I suggest, getting a mouse with 5 buttons?  As you may know  this kind of mouse has the usual two buttons plus scrolling wheel, and also two extra buttons.  These extra two buttons are always defaulted to go back and go forward whenever you press them.

    It has always been BACKSPACE.

The dilemma with the selection of using BACKSPACE is that when you are typing and the browser does not recognize that you are typing in a text area, and you have to hit BACKSPACE to delete something you typo-ed, there are rare occasions when your browser will go "BACK" instead of deleting the text before the cursor in your text area.

Thank you. There are times when  even backspace does not work!

Thank you. Your solution works. I usually use Google Chrome which in certain instances causes problems. IE is too slow.

Sometimes when I am reading a message in Google messages and try to go back I am taken out of messages instead of just going back to the main google messages!

Tried to use gmail keyboard shortcuts but did not have success. Is there a special method to using them

to use keyboard shortcuts, you will have to go to mail settings :

        and select keyboard shortcuts on.
        and click save changes.

        start checking your mails.

        press u
to  return to inbox/list of convesions

        press j or k
to  go to next or previous mail.

(you may need to use upgraded version IE8 or IE9
because some pc's have IE6 which perhaps does not support keyboard shorcuts  in basic html view)
