How can I get SharePod to work with my iPod Touch 4 and Windows 7?

Randy D. August 26, 2011

Back in 2008, MakeUseOf featured a program called SharePod How To Manage Your iPod with SharePod Read More .

I have an iPod Touch 4, my PC has Windows 7, and I can’t get it to work. I get an error window that says SharePod can’t find an iPod attached to the PC. I tried contacting the developer with no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it work?

I just sucessfully got Sharepod to work with Windows 7 WITHOUT loading iTunes, only the required drivers. First download the itunes exe file (, Then open this with an extraction program (Winrar) to see the embedded files. Dbl click AppleAPplicationSupport.msi to install, then click AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi to install.  Then launch Sharepod. Viola!

As of version 3.8.4, SharePod supports the new iPhone / iPod Touch models

iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

My first guess is that you are using an unsupported (current) iTunes version.

SharePod wasn't updated for almost a year and at it's current state only supports iTunes 10.2 or earlier. Later versions of iTunes come with an updated device driver which prevents tools [not designed for that version] to access the iOS device.
