Why doesn’t my Samsung DVD writer work with my computer?

HP November 9, 2011

My Samsung DVD Writer appears in My Computer, but when I insert a disc the drive light blinks for 5-10 seconds, then nothing happens. If I double click on the DVD device icon, a blank window appears. Even if I insert a DVD lens cleaner it doesn’t help. I’ve tried updating my firmware and checking for registry problems as well. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Well, you could turn to Samsung for tech support.
AS I always  use aneesoft DVD creator to burn DVDs, and it works well for me, so far I didn't got an DVD writer~

Hello, Have you tried removing the drivers for your cd/dvd drive in device manager?  Remove the drivers and then restart computer.  If that doesn't work, try the solution on the next paragraph.

What works most times is removing the upper and lower filters in registry.  Even though the article talks about Vista, I have used this on XP, and it works.  Follow the instructions on the following link:

    try options in the order.

    1.fix : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 source :http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-12954-dvd-rw-will-not-read-anything

    2. it has two solutions check the whole page :

3.system restore can help if it was a software problem and if it worked properly before the problem occurred.

    4. Sometimes you have to replace a component if it gets out of order because of a hardware failure.
