How do I reuse an old foldable PDA keyboard as a USB keyboard?

Anonymous December 21, 2013

I have an “old” foldable keyboard which I used with a HP Jornada PDA. It is a great one and I really would like to re-use it. It has, on the top, a vertical connector which was used to dock the PDA on top of it.

My question is: how could I rewire it, from the connector (I doubt it) or from the inside and possibly transform this keyboard into one with a USB connector? I have no idea of the kind of wiring involved in a keyboard nor in a USB.

Thanks for any suggestion!

Although the switches are most probably the same as used in other keyboards, the electronics would be different. It would take a major effort to "convert" your keyboard, if this can be done at all. I don't think this is practical for anyone who is not an engineer with access to manufacturing facilities.
