How can I retrieve my files from a corrupted Easy File Locker?

Sam May 7, 2010

I have been using a program called Easy File Locker, which has been featured on MakeUseOf before, to lock some of my files. After reinstalling Windows recently, my password seems to have been lost or corrupted. I now get an “invalid password” message whenever I enter my password, which before the reinstall worked fine.

How on earth it could have been changed or what it could have been changed to I have no idea. I am running Windows 7.

How can I get my files back?

More difficult!   My girlfriend has protected some folder and file but after some months she need to reinstall windows.  She has 2 drive C and D.  On D (data drive)  after windows installation she has folder and file still blocked and seems not possible to reactivate, or move or copy .... Maybe easyfilelocker install the password somewhere.  Beside changing girlfriend, do you have ideas for retriving the blocked folders?  I already tried with "windows safe more" but  folders remain protected

I have tried emailing xoslab (which was over a month ago now), but like Barry above, I have yet to get any reply.

This is pathetic. What's the point of using this stupid program to protect your files, when it can cause you to lose them forever?

A few weeks ago I locked all my user files with easy file locker. That included the desktop which immediately disappeared. Since I'm the only user I was locked out, no start menu, no desktop, no nothing. I e-mailed xoslab but they never answered.

    Hi Sam

Tough situation. I think the best think would be to contact the developers behind the Easy File Locker and see what can be wrong in your case. I am sure they will have a few suggestions. You can contact them at OR

Let us know how it goes.
